The Bare-Bone Basics of Blackjack for Beginners
Blackjack is one of the easiest games to learn to play at a casino and also one that’s the most fun. If you want to get a quick payout then it’s important to learn the basic strategy of the game. While Blackjack is one of those games that are easy to learn but difficult to master, we’ve assembled a guide here that’ll get you started out on the right foot. With that in mind, let’s go over the basics:
The goal of Blackjack is to beat your opponent’s hand without going over 21. You’ll be dealt two cards at the beginning, and aces are worth either 1 or 11 points while the rest of the cards are worth their face value with 10 awarded for picture cards, so if you have a king and an ace to begin with, then your total is 21, automatically winning you the game. Aside from getting a 21 yourself, you’ll also win the game by beating the dealer’s total or if the dealer goes over 21.
Once you do win a hand, you’ll get paid money. Betting 10$ will reward you with 10$, but there is an exception when it comes to player’s blackjack, which is commonly paid out 3-2, meaning a 10$ bet will reward $15. You will also come across 6-5 games, but try to avoid these at it gives the house too much of an edge.
Houses have more edge than players in the overall majority of games hosted at casinos. This is simply because a player has to act before the dealer does, which means if the player busts, they’ll lose money, even if the dealer busts right after. This overall house edge can be reduced by using play options such as doubling down, splitting pairs, and surrendering.
